In a significant breakthrough against cross-border espionage, the Punjab Police arrested two individuals for allegedly leaking sensitive Indian Army movements to a Pakistan-based handler.

The arrests, made in Malerkotla, were based on credible intelligence, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav revealed on the social media platform X.

According to preliminary investigations, the accused were in frequent contact with the handler and had received payments via online transactions in exchange for classified information. Police recovered two mobile phones linked to the espionage activities, and a case has been registered.

In a separate operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police foiled a major drone-based smuggling attempt along the Indo-Pak border. Acting swiftly on intelligence inputs, authorities recovered a consignment of arms and explosives near agricultural fields in the Amritsar sector. Among the seized items were pistols, grenades, detonators, remote-controlled devices, and 972 grams of RDX, allegedly transported via drones for cross-border operations.

Investigations are ongoing to trace financial transactions and additional operatives involved in the espionage and smuggling network. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to national security, ensuring stringent action against those attempting to compromise India’s safety.
