The Odisha government has officially announced that changes to administrative boundaries—including districts, sub-divisions, tahasils, revenue villages, and urban local bodies—will be permitted until June 30, 2025.
After this date, the boundaries will be frozen from July 1, 2025, in preparation for the ensuing Census.
This decision ensures that the Census process is conducted with accurate and finalised administrative divisions, preventing any disruptions in population data collection. The notification, issued by the Revenue & Disaster Management Department, aligns with previous boundary adjustments made before past Census operations.
Officials have emphasised that the revised boundaries will also play a crucial role in future panchayat and municipal elections, ensuring that electoral processes align with updated demographic data.
The move has sparked discussions among local authorities and residents, with some expressing concerns over the impact of boundary changes on governance and resource allocation.
