The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has decided to suspend former Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth from all association-related cricket activities for a period of three years.
The decision was made in a special general body meeting held in Kochi on April 30, following Sreesanth’s controversial remarks regarding the KCA in response to Sanju Samson’s exclusion from India’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Sreesanth, who co-owns the Aries Kollam Sailors franchise in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL), expressed frustration over Samson’s omission, making statements that the KCA deemed “scandalous.” Despite this, the KCA announced that it would not take action against the Aries Kollam Sailors and Alleppey Ripples franchises after finding their responses to previous show-cause notices satisfactory.
In addition, the KCA has warned franchises to exercise caution in selecting new management members. Further, the association plans to file a compensation case against Samson Viswanath, Sanju Samson’s father, citing unfounded allegations against the KCA that were publicly aired.
The decision has sparked mixed reactions, with supporters of Samson criticising the association’s handling of player selection issues. Meanwhile, KCA remains firm in its stance, stating that such conduct will not be tolerated within the organisation.
