The Octroi Post in Jammu and Kashmir’s RS Pura sector, a popular border tourism spot, has been closed to civilians following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack.

This decisive action by the Indian government underscores heightened security concerns and its firm stance against cross-border terrorism. The move is part of a series of strong retaliatory measures aimed at ensuring national safety and sovereignty.

Perpetrated by The Resistance Front (TRF), linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the incident has prompted India to take a series of stern retaliatory measures against Pakistan.

The Indian government, citing Pakistan’s role in facilitating terrorism, has undertaken sweeping actions, including the closure of border points like the Octroi Post in Jammu and Kashmir and the Attari Integrated Check Post. These are significant symbols of bilateral movement between the two nations. Furthermore, India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960, a move that is expected to hit Pakistan’s water-dependent agriculture hard.

To intensify the response, all visas issued to Pakistani nationals have been cancelled. Individuals currently in India are instructed to leave by April 29, with exceptions only for medical visas. Diplomatic ties have also taken a blow as the staff strength at both High Commissions has been significantly reduced.

These measures underline India’s determined stance against cross-border terrorism, reflecting its resolve to ensure security and peace within its borders.
