Political leaders from across the spectrum gathered at Parliament House in New Delhi for an all-party meeting to address the devastating April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.

Chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the meeting began with a moment of silence for the victims, underscoring the gravity of the incident.

In a rare display of unity, both the government and opposition condemned the attack and pledged decisive action to combat terrorism.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju briefed the attendees on measures approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security, including enhanced intelligence oversight and stringent preventive measures.

Officials from the Intelligence Bureau and the Ministry of Home Affairs provided a detailed analysis of security lapses and ongoing efforts to strengthen counter-terrorism measures.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasised the importance of maintaining peace in Jammu and Kashmir, while Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi expressed unanimous support for government-led actions. Gandhi also announced plans to visit the injured at Anantnag’s Government Medical College on April 25.

Opposition leaders called for accountability and the dismantling of terror infrastructure. AAP’s Sanjay Singh advocated for the destruction of militant camps, and Trinamool Congress’s Sudip Bandopadhyay highlighted the need for national unity in eliminating terrorism.

The meeting saw participation from key ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, along with senior MPs from various political parties. The unified stance reflected a collective commitment to safeguarding national security and upholding peace.
