Child Kidnapping Bhubaneswar

In a swift and coordinated operation, the Airfield police in Bhubaneswar successfully rescued an 8-year-old child who was abducted from the capital city earlier today.

The kidnappers, who demanded a ransom of 20 lakh rupees, had threatened the child with a gun to the head before fleeing in a black car. The rescue, executed within hours of the abduction, took place near Panchagaon, a rural area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday when the child was forcibly taken from a residential area in Bhubaneswar. According to police reports, the abductors used a black car to flee the scene after intimidating the child with a firearm. The child’s family was contacted shortly after, with the kidnappers demanding Rs 20 lakh for the safe return of the minor. The family immediately alerted the authorities, prompting a rapid response from the Airfield police station.

Acting on the tip-off, three specialised police teams were deployed to track down the perpetrators. Using a combination of intelligence gathering and local surveillance, the teams zeroed in on the kidnappers’ location near Pipili. The child was rescued unharmed within hours, and the suspects are currently under investigation, though no arrests have been officially confirmed at the time of reporting.

However, the incident has also sparked outrage among residents, with some questioning the safety of children in the capital city.

As Bhubaneswar grapples with this disturbing trend, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for enhanced security measures and public awareness to protect vulnerable members of society.

The successful rescue of the 8-year-old may have averted a tragedy, but it also underscores the urgent need to address the root causes of crime in Odisha.
