Two police personnel lost their lives when a speeding sand-laden Hyva truck collided with a PCR van on the Cuttack-Paradip road near Gatiroutpatna early on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred while the officers were on patrol.

The deceased officers have been identified as Odisha Auxiliary Police Force (OAPF) personnel Lokanath Sabar and home guard Jagannath Mahalik.

A third officer sustained severe injuries and was immediately rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Officials confirm that his condition is stable.

As per reports, the truck was moving at an excessive speed when it rammed into the police vehicle. The force of the collision completely damaged the PCR van.

The driver of the truck has been arrested.
