India on Saturday strongly condemned the brutal killing of prominent Hindu community leader Bhabesh Chandra Roy in Bangladesh, calling it part of a disturbing pattern of targeted violence against Hindu minorities in the country.

Roy, 58, was reportedly abducted from his residence and later beaten to death in the Dinajpur district of northern Bangladesh, according to local media reports cited by PTI.

Responding to the incident, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the murder reflects the continued persecution of Hindu minorities under Bangladesh’s interim government.

“We have noted with distress the abduction and brutal killing of Shri Bhabesh Chandra Roy. This follows a pattern of systematic persecution, even as perpetrators of past attacks remain free,” Jaiswal posted on X.

India has urged the Bangladeshi government to uphold its responsibility to ensure the safety and rights of all minorities, including Hindus, without delay or discrimination.

“We condemn this incident and remind the interim government to protect minorities without inventing excuses or making distinctions,” the MEA added.

This statement comes amid rising concern over repeated attacks on religious minorities in Bangladesh in recent months.
