Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has made a strong appeal to the British government and King Charles, urging them to watch his upcoming historical drama Kesari Chapter 2 and “realise their mistake.”

During a press conference for the film, Akshay opened up about the emotional connection he has with the story, sharing that he grew up hearing about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre from his father.

“My father used to tell me stories about the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy. Those tales stayed with me and inspired me to be part of a film that can remind people of the past,” Akshay said.

He further added, “I want the British government and even King Charles to watch this film — not with anger, but with reflection. It’s important to acknowledge history and the pain caused to so many lives.”

Kesari Chapter 2, a sequel to the 2019 film Kesari, continues to explore untold stories of bravery and sacrifice during India’s struggle against British colonial rule. The film is expected to delve into the events surrounding the Jallianwala Bagh massacre — one of the darkest chapters in British colonial history.

The actor’s comments have sparked conversations around colonial accountability and the role of cinema in historical reckoning.
