The excise department in Muribahal block of Bolangir district conducted a raid at the Chanabahal-Karlabahali junction and seized a Bolero pickup truck (OD 03 N-6712) loaded with 11.7 quintals of mahua.
Acting on specific intelligence, the department successfully intercepted the vehicle and arrested Dinesh Mahakur from Bagbahali village.
The officials present during the raid included OIC Sumit Kumar Sahu, ASI Hingula Sahu, and constables Prafulla Nag and Chandan Patel. The seized truck and mahua load were taken into custody, and a case was registered under Excise PR Case No. 03/25-26. The accused was later sent to court for further legal proceedings.
There are allegations from locals that unscrupulous traders have been stockpiling large quantities of mahua in warehouses throughout the Muribahal block. Residents are urging the excise department to heighten its vigilance to crack down on such illegal activities.
