Following a detailed assessment of disaster-affected regions, an official Central inter-ministerial team met Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to discuss immediate relief and recovery operations.

State Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Rajesh Prabhakar Patil confirmed that the Odisha government has formally requested Rs 2,526 crore in central financial assistance to address severe damage in Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kandhamala districts.

In addition to immediate emergency relief, the state government has demanded a special financial package of Rs 10,000 crore to construct long-term, disaster-resilient infrastructure across vulnerable regions.

The Central team completed extensive field inspections across affected agricultural tracts, river embankments, and public infrastructure. Officials stated that the team will compile its findings and submit a formal damage evaluation report to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs within 8 to 10 days to facilitate prompt central funding.

  • A customer at Regal Food Park in Infocity, Patia, allegedly found insects in the cauliflower served in a vegetable curry. When the customer raised the issue, the restaurant representative reportedly responded dismissively, asking how they could be expected to spot insects inside a cauliflower and stating that nothing could be done.
Despite the complaint, the customer and his friends were required to pay the entire bill. The incident raises serious concerns about food hygiene and the restaurant’s handling of customer complaints.
