Electricity supply has been fully restored to the Aska urban area in Ganjam district following severe flooding and heavy rainfall triggered by Cyclone Arnab.
Restoration crews worked round-the-clock under extremely challenging ground conditions to repair damaged infrastructure and bring power back to households, market complexes, and commercial centers.
The passing of Cyclone Arnab left Aska severely inundated, with widespread waterlogging, deep mud, and debris obstructing access to critical electrical installations. Despite these physical hazards, field crews mobilised immediately, strictly adhering to safety protocols while replacing damaged assets and drying out submerged equipment.
To accelerate recovery across its entire eight-district service area in Southern Odisha, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) deployed a massive workforce of around 6,500 personnel. The comprehensive response team comprised senior utility officials, power engineers, company employees, and skilled as well as unskilled project workers.
The ground operation was reinforced by a massive logistical setup, including approximately 400 specialised vehicles, six mobile distribution substations, and 16 transit stores strategically positioned to supply equipment and emergency hardware to hit zones without delay.
Dedicated division teams continue to assess remaining rural pockets, conduct safety checks, and progressively stabilise the power grid across the region, bringing much-needed relief and normalcy back to the residents of Ganjam district.
