Telecom and digital titan Jio Platforms made its highly anticipated stock market debut on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, opening with a stellar premium on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The company’s shares opened at ₹1,357 per share, marking a strong 21.3% surge over the upper end of its initial public offering (IPO) price band of ₹1,119. The robust listing debut aligned closely with prevailing grey market premium (GMP) expectations, signaling immense investor confidence.
Leadership Celebrates Milestone at Exchange Listing
Addressing the gathering at the NSE listing ceremony in Mumbai, Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani expressed heartfelt gratitude to investors and consumers.
”Today I express my heartfelt gratitude towards you all. Today, the bell at the Exchange will ring for me as a temple bell because for me, business is puja, and every puja ends with prasad, and prasad is always shared,” Anant Ambani said.
Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) Chairman Akash Ambani reflected on the company’s foundational mission to bridge digital divides across India, sharing an anecdote of how accessible data has transformed education in remote regions.
”A few years ago, in a mountainous pocket of Keralam, a young girl named Anjali used to walk 2 kms uphill each day… for data connectivity to download her school lessons. But with Jio that ended,” Akash Ambani stated. “When we ring the bell today to mark our listing, we remember millions of the Anjalis across the country.”
Broader Market Context
The blockbuster listing came on a morning when broader equity benchmarks traded on a subdued note. As of 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex shed 0.47% to trade at 73,253.44, while the NSE Nifty 50 dipped 0.32% to 22,678, underscoring Jio Platforms’ strong individual market pull amid cautious broader sentiment.
