Mumbai Police investigating the Oct 18 shooting incident involving actor Tiger Shroff have uncovered a breakthrough, revealing that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan was the primary target before suspects shifted their plans.
According to sources, the shooters monitored Khan’s residence for nearly a month. However, his frequent film travel and extended periods at home made him difficult to access, prompting the assailants to pivot to Tiger Shroff, who regularly played football at a Juhu park on Sundays.
Investigators have linked the initial scheme targeting Khan to threats issued against him in July by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
During the Oct 18 attack, two assailants fired five to six rounds at Shroff’s vehicle before fleeing on a motorcycle. While Shroff escaped unharmed, his driver and a bystander sustained injuries.
The three primary suspects—Phool Singh (18), Rehan Rahisuddin Ansari (18), and Rithik Mahto (22)—were intercepted by Kota Police in Rajasthan on Oct 19.
Investigators revealed that off-site handlers used encrypted messaging apps like Signal and Zangi to relay real-time news updates and warning alerts to help the suspects adjust their escape routes.
Police have since recovered two firearms and 10 live cartridges in Surat as the probe continues.
