Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha on Sunday to inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Greenfield Data Centre and Cyber Security Training Institute at Infovalley, near Jatni in the Khordha district.
In anticipation of the high-profile visit, the twin-city commissionerate police have enforced a rigorous security blanket stretching from Bhubaneswar to Jatni.
Police Commissioner S. Devdatta Singh announced that 70 platoons of police force have been deployed across the capital to maintain law and order. The elaborate security apparatus will be managed by top-tier officials, including 10 SPs, DCPs, and Commandant-rank officers, supported by 37 Additional SPs and DSPs, 71 IICs, and 223 SIs and ASIs. Security arrangements are being strictly executed in compliance with the Blue Book guidelines.
Traffic Restrictions and Itinerary
Since the Prime Minister is scheduled to return by road after concluding the event, the Commissionerate Police have issued strict traffic advisories to prevent congestion. Traffic restrictions will remain in place from 5:40 PM to 6:40 PM.
The curbs affect key routes and intersections, including:
-
Infovalley (RBI Data Centre site)
-
Talkhet, Bhuasuni Chhak, and NH-16
-
Jaydev Vihar, Behera Sahi, and Shastri Nagar
-
120 BN Chhak, Power House, Lok Seva Bhawan, AG Chhak, and Hospital Chhak
Commuters have been advised to plan extra travel time and use alternative routes. However, emergency service vehicles such as police cars, fire engines, and ambulances are completely exempt from these restrictions.
According to police officials, the Prime Minister will arrive at the Bhubaneswar airport in the afternoon and take a helicopter directly to the venue. Following the inauguration ceremony, he will travel back by road to the airport before departing for New Delhi in the evening.
