A festive journey turned into a nightmare on Friday morning when a heavily loaded DJ vehicle met with a fatal accident near Mathili in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
The mishap, triggered by a sudden tyre burst, claimed the life of at least one person and left more than 10 others injured.
According to local reports, the ill-fated vehicle was heading from Dharmagarh toward Malkangiri. Around 7:00 AM, as the vehicle approached the Anlajodi area near Mathili, one of its front tyres suddenly burst, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle veered off balance and overturned violently on the roadside.
The loud crash drew immediate attention from panic-stricken locals, who rushed to the scene to assist the victims. More than 10 passengers who sustained injuries of varying severity were swiftly rescued from the wreckage. Police and emergency responders arrived shortly after, shifting the injured individuals to the Mathili Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
