The state of Odisha is preparing to host both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu in late October 2026.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Khordha on October 25, while President Murmu will undertake a two-day official visit to Mayurbhanj district on October 28 and 29.

In light of these upcoming high-profile visits, Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a high-level state preparation meeting today at the Conference Hall of Lok Seva Bhawan to review security arrangements, infrastructure readiness, and inter-departmental coordination.

PM Narendra Modi’s Schedule (October 25)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive at Bhubaneswar Airport on the afternoon of October 25 aboard a special Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft. From the airport, he will proceed via a special helicopter to reach the Khordha helipad before sunset.

From the helipad, the Prime Minister will travel by road to the event venue near Khordha to formally inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) new Greenfield Data Centre and Training Institute.

The Prime Minister is expected to stay at the venue for approximately one hour. Following the ceremony, he will return by road to Bhubaneswar Airport and depart the same evening.

President Droupadi Murmu’s Two-Day Itinerary (October 28–29)

President Droupadi Murmu’s two-day itinerary will focus extensively on the Mayurbhanj district, featuring a blend of religious, health, infrastructure, and community engagements:

  • October 28:
    • Morning: Arrives at Dandbose Airport and travels by road to offer prayers at the Maa Kichakeswari Temple in Bahalda.
    • Midday: Visits the Laxmi Mandap at Mahulddiha in Rairangpur to perform worship.
    • Afternoon: Visits the Rairangpur Sub-divisional Hospital to interact with medical officers, staff, and beneficiaries of the Mega Health Camp (scheduled from October 24 to 28).
    • Public Address & Virtual Foundation Stone Laying: Addresses a public gathering at Kacheri Road, Rairangpur, where she will virtually lay the foundation stone for the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) campus. She will also lay the foundation for the restoration and development of the Maa Kichakeswari Temple in Khiching under the Ministry of Tourism’s ‘PRASHAD’ scheme.
    • Inaugurations & Projects: Formally inaugurates the newly redeveloped Rairangpur and Badampahar ‘Amrit Bharat’ Railway Stations, and lays the foundation stones for a Goshala and the building of the Adivasi Social Educational & Cultural Association.
  • October 29:
    • Morning Visits: Visits the Sports Complex in Rairangpur, the Multi-purpose Skill Development Centre, and Gorumahisani Steel College.
    • Community Interaction: Attends a health-related seminar, discussion, and awareness program at Rairangpur Town Hall.
    • Afternoon: Completes her itinerary and departs Mayurbhanj.

High-Level Review and Administrative Readiness

During the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary (Home, Information & Public Relations) Hemant Sharma presented a detailed operational outline of both VVIP tour schedules.

Chief Secy Anu Garg instructed all administrative department heads, district collectors, and law enforcement agencies to personally supervise and execute every detail of the visit flawlessly. The meeting comprehensively evaluated key arrangements, including:

  • Security perimeters and carcade management
  • Emergency medical and ambulance routing
  • Road repairs, public sanitation, and venue stage preparations
  • Uninterrupted electricity supply and drinking water availability
  • Media facilitation and real-time public information dispersal

A dedicated Control Room will operate under the State Home Department throughout both visits to monitor real-time progress and ensure smooth logistics across Khordha, Mayurbhanj, and Bhubaneswar.

The planning session was attended in person by Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh, department secretaries, the Director General of Police (DGP), senior RBI officials, and the Khordha District Collector. The Central Revenue Commissioner, Collector of Mayurbhanj, and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Mayurbhanj participated virtually.
