Just ahead of the festive season, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has gifted the residents of Bhubaneswar major infrastructural additions, focusing on affordable housing for the homeless and sports facilities for the youth.

The Chief Minister inaugurated two key projects and laid the foundation stone for another under the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA). The initiatives include the inauguration of the Bajrangi Playground at Ghatikia and the Neelakanheswar Nivasa affordable housing project at Gadakana, alongside laying the foundation stone for a new Rental Housing Project.

Key Highlights of the Event:

  • Festive Gifts for the Capital: Following the recent decision to waive ground rent on government land used for Puja Mandaps, the Chief Minister has brought further cheer by addressing urban housing and youth development.

  • Sports Infrastructure: After inaugurating the Bajrangi Playground at Ghatikia, CM Majhi visited the football ground, interacted with young athletes, inspected the tennis court and running tracks, and even played football, scoring a goal to encourage the players.

  • Dignified Housing for the Homeless: The inauguration of the Neelakanheswar Nivasa and the mention of the Mukteswar Residency mark a turning point for families who spent years living on roadsides or in slums. The Chief Minister emphasised that these are not just houses, but symbols of dignity and security, reiterating the government’s resolve that no one in the capital will remain homeless.

  • Government’s Vision: Highlighting the core mantra—“Playgrounds for youth, homes for the poor”—the CM stated that the state government, through BDA and the Housing & Urban Development Department, is continuously building affordable and rental housing under various schemes like PMAY to fulfil citizens’ dreams.

Dignitaries Present:

The inauguration events saw participation from Housing & Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, MLA Prashant Jagdev, Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das, BDA Vice-Chairman Chanchal Rana (IAS), along with corporators from various political parties, local leaders, and BDA-BMC officials.
