Starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, the erotic psychological thriller pulled in an impressive $62 million globally during its opening weekend, comfortably surpassing initial industry projections.
In North America, the film raked in a spectacular $32 million across its three-day weekend, securing the second-biggest opening for a Colleen Hoover adaptation behind It Ends With Us. International markets mirrored this enthusiasm, contributing an equally robust $30 million to push the worldwide tally to $62 million.
Made on a modest production budget of $40 million, Verity has already outperformed expectations by clearing over $22 million above its production costs right out of the gate.
Backed by strong word-of-mouth and industry multiplier standards, the film is projected to cross the $100 million milestone during its second weekend, hitting its break-even mark swiftly and establishing itself as a commercial success.
