Security forces achieved a significant breakthrough in the ongoing anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, eliminating seven Maoists, including high-ranking leaders.

The encounters, which spanned three days, took place in the dense forests of Indravati National Park, where forces engaged in intense gun battles with CPI (Maoist) cadres.

Among those killed were Central Committee Member Narasimha Chalam (Sudhakar) and Special Zonal Committee Member Bhaskar (Mailarapu Adellu)—two top Maoist leaders with bounties of ₹40 lakh and ₹45 lakh, respectively.

During the operation, security personnel seized AK-47 rifles and explosives, strengthening their crackdown on insurgency strongholds. Special Task Force (STF), District Reserve Guard (DRG), and CRPF’s CoBRA unit spearheaded the mission.

Despite successes, the forces encountered natural challenges such as snake bites, honeybee stings, and dehydration, requiring medical assistance for injured personnel.

This marks the third major blow to Maoist forces in Chhattisgarh within three weeks. On May 21, another operation resulted in the death of CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Nambala Keshav Rao and 26 insurgents.
