At least 36 pilgrims sustained injuries on Saturday morning in a bus collision involving multiple vehicles during the Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district.
The incident occurred in the Chanderkote area when a bus, part of a convoy ferrying devotees to the holy Amarnath shrine, failed to halt and crashed into four stationary buses parked at a designated breakfast stop.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Kulbir Singh, confirmed that the mishap led to a chain reaction, injuring several passengers. Fortunately, most of the injuries were reported to be minor, and the majority of affected pilgrims chose to continue the pilgrimage after receiving first aid. However, authorities stated that three to four individuals may not be able to proceed further due to the seriousness of their injuries.
Rescue operations were promptly launched, and police teams along with medical personnel ensured quick assistance at the site. The administration is monitoring the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of all pilgrims as the yatra continues.
