Raipur/Malkangiri: Three Maoists were gunned down by the security forces in Bastar Kanker district in Chhattisgarh bordering Odisha on Sunday.
According to police, the encounter took place in the Bomara Hutarai village when the District Reserve Guard and the Border Security Force were conducting an anti-Naxal operation.
After being attacked, the security forces retaliated with firing, killing at least three Maoists, police said.
Kanker SP Indira Kalyan Elesela said that the Maoists are yet to be identified and the identification process is underway.
As per primary information, they were the members of Military Company -5 of Maad Area belonging to the Communist Party of India (Maoist), the SP added.
