The 15th International Sand Art Festival is captivating visitors at Chandrabhaga Beach, near the iconic Sun Temple in Konark, Odisha, as it enters its second day. The festival has become a major cultural attraction, drawing crowds eager to witness the artistic marvels created on the sandy shores.

This year, 140 artists are participating, including international sculptors from Spain, Canada, Japan, Russia, Portugal, and Sri Lanka, alongside talented Indian artists. Their collaborative work has given the festival a truly global identity.

Visitors are mesmerized by the intricate artistry and the creative themes showcased each day. On the festival’s second day, the themes of ‘Marine Life’ and ‘Women Empowerment’ were brought to life through breathtaking sand sculptures, earning admiration from art enthusiasts and tourists alike.

The five-day festival, running from 1st to 5th December 2025, also features classical dance performances at an open-air auditorium against the illuminated backdrop of the Sun Temple, offering an enchanting blend of culture, creativity, and heritage.

In addition to the sand art, the Odisha government has launched the Subhadra Shakti Mela in Konark. The mela features 150 stalls managed by women’s self-help groups, showcasing handicrafts, organic produce, and locally crafted products. The initiative highlights women-led enterprises, supporting them through financial aid, production platforms, and opportunities for economic independence.

Officials emphasize that both the festival and the mela aim to spotlight Odisha’s cultural pride and women entrepreneurs on a global stage, merging artistry, empowerment, and sustainable entrepreneurship.
