On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Odisha’s Chief Secretary Mrs. Anu Garg visited Balasore today. She participated as the chief guest in the International Women’s Day program organized at the Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE) premises in Chandipur, under the auspices of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). There, she inaugurated a workshop.

The event saw the presence of DRDO Secretary Dr. Samir V. Kamat, along with directors from various DRDO laboratories and women scientists and researchers from across the country.

The “Sushri” workshop, organized by DRDO for International Women’s Day, focused on this year’s theme, “Give to Gain.” Discussions centered on women’s participation, empowerment, and advancing their research in the fields of science and defense. Emphasis was placed on fostering a spirit of collaboration, enhancing social responsibility, encouraging the achievements of women employees and scientists, developing leadership skills, and recognizing women’s contributions to science and technology. On this occasion, the guests unveiled the souvenir “Sushri.” The chief guest also inaugurated an exhibition and visited various stalls.

In the afternoon, Chief Secretary Mrs. Garg held a review meeting at the district collector’s conference hall with district administration officials and heads from various departments. District Collector Mr. Suryavanshi Mayur Vikas presented an overview of the progress of various important projects (strategic projects) in the district. Information was shared on major ongoing projects such as the Subarnarekha Port, Subarnarekha Renovation Scheme, tourism projects, and export potential for marine food and other products. Additionally, proposals for the overall development of Balasore in the coming days, including the construction of a ring road, establishment of an arts-science-literature museum, and developing Balasore into a municipal corporation, were presented.

During the discussions, the Chief Secretary provided necessary instructions and advice to the officials to implement various projects within the stipulated timelines for the comprehensive development of the district.
