Security forces killed over 12 Naxalites in separate encounters across Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region on Saturday.

Police confirmed that over 10 ultras were eliminated in Sukma, while two were neutralised in Bijapur during early morning operations.

An exchange of fire erupted in the dense forests of Sukma’s southern region, where District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel were conducting an anti-Naxalite operation. SP Sukma Kiran Chavan reported that 12 Maoists, including three members of the Kota Area Committee, were gunned down in Konta Kistaram jungle near the Malkangiri border. Security forces recovered automatic weapons, including AK-47 and INSAS rifles, from the site.

Sukma Operation

DRG soldiers engaged Maoists in a fierce gun battle in the Kistaram area. The encounter left 12 armed ultras dead. SP Chavan confirmed that recovered weapons will strengthen evidence against the Maoist network. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as search operations expand deeper into the forest.

Bijapur Encounter

Meanwhile, in Bijapur district, intelligence inputs led to a search operation in the southern region. A DRG team engaged Maoists in intermittent exchanges of fire since early morning. Two ultras were killed at the encounter site. Security forces launched further combing operations to trace Maoists suspected of hiding nearby.

Continuing Search

Police reported that 14 bodies have been recovered so far across Sukma and Bijapur. Search operations remain ongoing in forested terrain, with security forces determined to dismantle Maoist strongholds in Bastar.
