Khurda: 10 persons sustained injuries after a passenger bus turned turtle along the Baghmari-Begunia road in Khurda district late last night. However, no fatalities were reported.
As per reports, a bus with around 60 passengers on board, travelling from Bargarh to Bhubaneswar, lost control around 3 a.m., struck a roadside electric pole, and capsized, sliding off the road into a ditch.
Fortunately, live electric wires that were severed in the incident narrowly avoided making contact with the bus, which could have led to a severe calamity. Nonetheless, the collision resulted in injuries to several passengers, who were promptly taken to medical facilities in Khordha and Bhubaneswar for treatment.
A JCB crane, coincidentally present at the accident site, assisted locals in the initial rescue efforts to extract individuals from the overturned bus.
Subsequently, the police arrived at the location to assess the situation. They have not issued any statements yet, but preliminary reports suggest that the driver dozing off may have caused the accident.
