Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh will start his coaching career in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Delhi Capitals in 2027.
Reports confirmed that Yuvraj will join the franchise’s support staff alongside Sourav Ganguly as JSW Group takes over operations.
Delhi Capitals struggled in IPL 2025 and 2026, finishing fifth and sixth, which raised questions about head coach Hemang Badani’s position. With JSW Group assuming control, a major reshuffle is expected to strengthen the team after two disappointing seasons.
A senior DC official confirmed Yuvraj’s inclusion, marking his first coaching assignment in the IPL. Ganguly, who previously served as Director of Cricket during JSW’s earlier cycle, is set to return and has reportedly pushed for Yuvraj’s addition to the dugout.
Delhi Capitals, captained by Axar Patel, failed to reach the playoffs in consecutive seasons despite having star players like KL Rahul, Mitchell Starc, and Kuldeep Yadav. The team’s inconsistent performances highlighted the need for fresh leadership and tactical input.
Ganguly recently coached Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 league, leading them to the final. His return, combined with Yuvraj’s entry, signals a new era for Delhi Capitals as they aim to revive their fortunes in IPL 2027.
