A gruesome discovery was made early Sunday morning near the Panasaput and Baunsaguda junction under the Koraput Town police station limits.
The body of a 30-year-old man, identified as Ante Mali from Mali Talagaon in the Podagada Panchayat, was found in a mutilated state near a hill alongside his motorcycle parked on the roadside. The suspicious circumstances have led the police to launch a detailed investigation, with murder being a primary suspicion.
Local villagers passing by the area noticed the unattended motorcycle and grew suspicious. Upon closer inspection, they discovered the body lying in a nearby ditch, prompting them to alert the Dumuriput police outpost.
A team led by the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Koraput Town police station, Satyanada Patra, arrived at the scene, accompanied by a scientific team and a sniffer dog squad to collect evidence and initiate the investigation. The body, bearing visible injuries, was seized and sent to Koraput SLN Medical College & Hospital for postmortem.
According to family members, Ante Mali had left for Dumuriput on Saturday for some work but did not return home that evening. The shocking news of his death reached them on Sunday morning. The family alleges foul play, claiming that Mali may have been killed due to prior enmity.
The Koraput Town police station officer stated that a thorough investigation is underway, and the cause of death—whether murder or suicide—will be clarified once the postmortem report is received.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with residents demanding swift justice. The police are exploring all angles, including personal disputes and other potential motives, to unravel the mystery behind this tragic death.
