A youth went missing while bathing in the Brahmani River near Forest Nursery under Bonai police limits on Sunday afternoon, while residents rescued another youth.
According to sources, the incident took place near the Forest Nursery area along the Brahmani River, where two local youths, aged around 24 to 25 years, went to bathe in the river. During bathing, both of them reportedly drowned after slipping into deep water.
Hearing their cries for help, local people rushed to the spot and managed to rescue one of the youths. However, the other youth went missing in the river and could not be traced immediately.
Soon after the incident, the Fire Services personnel and the Bonai Police were informed. A fire brigade team reached the spot and launched a rescue operation with the help of a motorboat to trace the missing youth.
Till the filing of this report, the search operation was continuing.
