A tragic incident unfolded in the Baipariguda block of the Koraput district when 28-year-old Uddhab Kendu died after allegedly consuming poison.
His aunt, Radha Kendu, who raised him since childhood, lodged a written complaint at the local police station.
According to the complaint, Uddhab returned home around 8 PM on December 9 and asked for food before going to his room. Moments later, he cried out in pain, clutching his stomach. His aunt rushed to him and noticed a strong smell of poison. Suspecting that he had consumed a toxic substance, family members and locals immediately took him to Baipariguda Medical Centre.
Doctors provided preliminary treatment and advised shifting him to Jeypore District Headquarters Hospital for advanced care. He was later moved to Koraput Medical College. Despite efforts, doctors declared him dead at 4 AM today while he remained under treatment.
Police reached Koraput Medical College, conducted a post-mortem examination, and handed over the body to the family. Based on the grandmother’s complaint, Baipariguda police registered an unnatural death case and began further investigation.
