In a shocking incident at Tribeni Chhak of Ranigoda village under Angul police limits, a 28-year-old youth, Alam Bishwal, was allegedly beaten to death by three youths from the same village.

According to the victim’s family members, Alam, who was said to be partially mentally unstable, was suddenly attacked by the three accused brothers at the square without any apparent reason. The assailants allegedly thrashed him mercilessly, leaving him half-dead, before fleeing the spot.

Police, upon receiving information, rescued Alam in a critical condition and admitted him to Angul District Headquarters Hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

While police have conducted a panchanama and initiated investigation, the accused are currently absconding.

Family sources revealed that a few days ago, Alam had a dispute with the accused over some material, which might have triggered the attack. However, the exact motive behind the murder is yet to be established, police said.
