In a shocking incident in Mayurbhanj district’s Thakurmundu block, a 24-year-old man, Kishore Liangi, was critically injured after being attacked by a bear in the Satkosia forest area of Pathiria Sahi, under the Satkosia Gram Panchayat.
The incident occurred around 3 PM on August 27, 2025, when Kishore, along with his relative Ramesh Liangi, had ventured into the forest to graze their cattle.
While returning home, a bear suddenly emerged from the jungle and attacked Kishore. In a desperate attempt to defend himself, Kishore struck the bear with a small axe. Enraged, the bear bit him on his leg and thigh before fleeing into the forest.
Ramesh immediately contacted family members, who rushed to the scene, carried Kishore on their shoulders to State Highway 53, and transported him to the Thakurmundu Community Health Centre in an auto-rickshaw.
Medical reports indicate that Kishore suffered a broken left leg and deep wounds on his thigh. Due to the severity of his condition, he was referred to the Anandpur Sub-Divisional Hospital for advanced treatment.
