Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, during a one-day visit to Mayurbhanj district, conducted a comprehensive review of the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) and the progress of various government schemes at the Shaheed Smruti Bhawan in Baripada.

The meeting focused on ensuring proper nutrition, health, education, and skill development for children, with a particular emphasis on enhancing the quality of education from school to higher education levels.

The review meeting saw the participation of key dignitaries, including Odisha’s School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Lok Sabha MP Naba Charan Majhi, Rajya Sabha MP Mamata Mohanta, and all MLAs from Mayurbhanj district, along with district administration officials. A detailed presentation on the implementation of the NEP was provided by the district administration.

Addressing the media, Pradhan highlighted Mayurbhanj’s critical role in advancing Odisha’s education landscape, stating, “Mayurbhanj’s contribution to education is unparalleled. The district hosts several quality educational institutions, and its development is vital for realising the vision of ‘Viksit Odisha’ and ‘Viksit Bharat’.” He emphasised the need for capacity building for students and teachers, improving literacy rates, and ensuring qualitative education as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s forward-looking NEP. Discussions also covered strategies to provide children with proper nutrition, skill development, and quality education up to Class 12.

During his visit, Pradhan inaugurated several projects in Baripada, including the administrative building of the Mayurbhanj Athletic Association and the Baripada Chhau Pandal project. He also laid the foundation stone for the renovation of Jubilee Park and Jhinjiri Bandh. The minister was warmly welcomed at various locations during his visit.

The review and inaugurations underscore the government’s commitment to fostering holistic development in Mayurbhanj, aligning with national goals of education reform and regional progress.
