Sundargarh: A woman was mowed down by a speeding truck in front of her parents near the Laljiram Petrol Pump on National Highway 143 in the Lahakothi area under Biramitrapur police limits in Sundargarh district on Tuesday morning.
As per reports, the mishap occurred when the family of three, a father, mother, and their daughter were returning from Vedvyas on a bike when a truck rammed into them, causing the bike to veer off balance.
As they all fell on the road, a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction ran over the girl. She reportedly died on the spot. After the incident, local residents blocked the NH-143 in protest alleging that poor road conditions led to the accident.
Police on receiving the information rushed to the spot and launched an investigation into the matter.
