A woman lost her life after being run over by a lorry on the Gobari bridge at Gulnagar in Kendrapara district on Monday.
The deceased woman hailed from the Mahipal area of Kendrapara town.
The accident occurred when the scooter she was travelling on, along with her husband and son, collided with the lorry. While both her husband and son sustained injuries, the woman’s tragic death has left the community in mourning.
The incident sparked outrage among local residents. In a bid to seek justice and prevent such accidents in the future, residents staged a road blockade, demanding immediate action from the authorities. They called for restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles during peak hours, citing the frequent transportation of sand and other materials as a significant hazard.
Local police rushed to the spot and have since launched an investigation into the hit-and-run case. Efforts are underway to gather evidence and identify the lorry driver responsible for this tragic event.
