Three individuals, including two minors, have been arrested for gang-raping a woman in Odisha’s Angul district.
The assault occurred on July 3 when the victim, travelling with her nephew from Chhendipada, stopped in a roadside forest to relieve herself.
According to police reports, the accused arrived on a tractor and forcibly assaulted the woman. The complaint was filed days later at Bagdia police station, prompting the formation of three special police teams under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Police.
A forensic team and dog squad were deployed, leading to the arrest of all three accused. Police seized the tractor, mobile phones, clothing worn during the crime, and biological evidence. The case has been classified as a “Red Flag” and “special report,” with authorities pledging to file a charge sheet within 30 days.
Angul police have announced plans to request a fast-track trial to ensure swift and stringent punishment for the perpetrators.
