A tragic incident unfolded on Thursday morning in the Bazaarpada area of Lanjigarh town in Kalahandi district, where a 45-year-old married woman was found dead by suicide in her rented residence.
The deceased, Pratima Nayak, was the wife of Uday Nayak, an employee at Vedanta’s associate company. According to reports, Uday had left the house around 8 AM for work. Upon returning, he discovered his wife hanging from the ceiling fan using a saree.
The couple had moved into the rented house in Bazaarpada only a few months ago. Shocked by the discovery, Uday immediately filed a written complaint at the Lanjigarh police station.
Responding swiftly, Lanjigarh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Yashwant Hial, along with ASI Sanjay Baitha and a team of officers, reached the scene and recovered the body. The remains were sent for autopsy, and an unnatural death case has been registered under Case No. 7/25.
Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and the body has been handed over to the family following post-mortem procedures.
