A shocking incident has come to light in Baliapatna on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, where a newlywed woman named Swagatika was found dead, and her husband, Yashobanta Pradhan, has been arrested on charges of murder.
Swagatika, who hailed from Narisho Chandipara village, reportedly married Yashobanta on March 12, 2024. Her family provided around ₹15 lakh worth of dowry. However, following a few months of marriage, it is alleged that her in-laws demanded additional dowry and subjected her to physical and mental harassment.
On the night of the incident, the couple had celebrated their first wedding anniversary in the presence of Swagatika’s parents. Tragically, after her parents left, Swagatika was found hanging from a fan. Her family alleges foul play and accuses her in-laws of murdering her.
Following the report by Swagatika’s family, the Baliapatna police took immediate action and arrested Yashobanta Pradhan. The police have seized the body and initiated an investigation into the case.
The investigation is currently underway, and more details are awaited.
