New Delhi: The Winter Session of Parliament, convening on Monday, will see Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman present several bills, including the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, which proposes changes to the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, as well as the Banking Regulation Act and the State Bank of India Act.
Additionally, the Finance Minister will propose amendments to the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Acts of 1970 and 1980.
Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is set to introduce the Railways (Amendment) Bill to amend the Railway Act, of 1989.
Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary, representing the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of Education, will report on the implementation status of the recommendations from the 56th Report of the Standing Committee on Labour, Textiles, and Skill Development regarding the SANKALP Project.
Union Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste and Vice-Chairman Ananta Nayak of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes will propose the association of a Rajya Sabha member with the committees for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for the term 2024-25.
BJP MPs Rodmal Nagar and Ganesh Singh will motion for the election of a Rajya Sabha member to the Committees on Welfare of Other Backward Classes for the term 2024-2025.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is set to propose a motion for electing two members to the Council of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Jayant Chaudhary, along with Ministers of State (MoS) for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, External Affairs Kirtivardhan Singh, Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse, Education Sukanta Majumdar, and Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra are scheduled to present papers on Monday in the lower house.
In addition, Union Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu will present the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024, a bill aimed at regulating and overseeing the design, manufacture, maintenance, possession, use, operation, sale, export, and import of aircraft, as well as related matters, which has been approved by Lok Sabha and is now up for consideration. The bill is also slated for passage.
BJP State President and Union Minister JP Nadda is expected to propose a motion for election to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore.
Union Minister Manohar Lal is anticipated to propose a motion for election to the Advisory Council of the Delhi Development Authority (DADA).
Minister of State Veeranna Somanna will deliver a statement regarding the implementation status of the recommendations in the 21st Report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources concerning the Demands for Grants (2023-24) for the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation in the Upper House.
He will also issue a statement on the implementation status of the recommendations included in the 28th Report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources, concerning the government’s action on the observations/recommendations in the Twenty-First Report of the Committee on Demands for Grants (2023-24) for the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
The Winter Session of Parliament is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 25, and, depending on the requirements of government business, is expected to conclude on December 20.
