Former West Indies T20I captain Nicholas Pooran has announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 29.
Having debuted in 2016, Pooran became the team’s most capped T20I batter and its highest run-scorer, leaving behind an exceptional legacy in the shortest format of the game.
Pooran, who was actively involved in the IPL 2025 season with the Lucknow Super Giants, called the decision “difficult” and expressed gratitude toward fans, teammates, and his family. In an emotional Instagram post, he reminisced about his journey, highlighting the pride of wearing the West Indies maroon jersey and leading the team as captain.
Over his career, Pooran amassed over 4000 international runs and led West Indies in multiple formats. His power-hitting abilities made him a force in T20 leagues worldwide. He remains a dominant presence in franchise cricket, ranking among the top T20 six-hitters globally.
