A shocking incident unfolded in Sambalpur district’s Daanipalli under Ainthapali police limits, where attackers brutally killed a worker from West Bengal after a beedi‑related dispute.
Initially, the argument began during work but quickly escalated into violence. Consequently, the attackers assaulted the worker, and he died on the spot. Meanwhile, two other workers suffered serious injuries during the attack, and doctors are now treating them in the hospital.
Soon after the incident, Ainthapali police launched an immediate investigation and arrested five accused. Moreover, officials confirmed that the deceased hailed from West Bengal. Locals, however, suspected him of being Bangladeshi, which further fueled tensions in the area. As a result, police intensified their probe and stated that the full truth will emerge as the investigation progresses.
Additionally, local sources revealed that the victim was among several key workers engaged in beedi‑making activities in the region. Although the exact motive remains unclear, preliminary findings suggest that the dispute over beedi‑rolling triggered the fatal assault.
