Two Odia participants have been selected as finalists in the prestigious Animation Film Competition, part of the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025.
Out of 42 finalists chosen nationwide, Jajpur’s Bhagyashree Satapathy and Bhubaneswar’s Rishabh Mohanty have made it to the finals.
Bhagyashree, a student of Animation and Film Design at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, has impressed with her original creation, “Pasa,” which reflects themes of strength, morality, and self-identity. Her previous works include “Happy Birthday Tara” and a film on Chilika Lake’s goddess Maa Kalijai.
Rishabh Mohanty, also a student at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, has reached the finals with his animated documentary “Khati.”
The finalists will present their projects at WAVES 2025, competing for the top three prizes, each worth ₹5 lakhs. The competition will be judged by an esteemed panel of international experts, offering participants a chance to showcase their talent on a global stage.
The WAVES Animation Film Competition is a significant initiative to promote India’s creative talent, fostering job creation and international collaborations in the animation and VFX industry.
