Fresh allegations of ragging rocked Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla, Sambalpur district.
The university penalised four students after its anti-ragging cell investigated a complaint filed by a Mechanical Engineering student.
Reports confirmed that three second-year students and one third-year student confronted the junior near the main gate about 15 days ago. Another student recorded the incident, sparking a verbal altercation. During the argument, the complainant’s mobile phone fell and broke, escalating tensions further.
The anti-ragging cell launched an inquiry immediately after receiving the complaint. A fact-finding committee examined the evidence and found all four accused guilty. Based on the findings, the university imposed monetary penalties as disciplinary action.
Officials stressed that the institution maintains zero tolerance toward ragging. They said strict measures will continue to ensure student safety and discipline on campus.
