India’s seasoned spinner, Piyush Chawla, has officially announced his retirement from all forms of cricket at the age of 36.
A stalwart of Indian cricket, Chawla was instrumental in India’s triumphs in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, marking an illustrious career filled with unforgettable moments.
Taking to social media, Chawla penned an emotional note expressing gratitude for his journey, acknowledging his mentors, teammates, and fans who stood by him throughout his career. His retirement signifies the end of an era that saw him excel across formats, playing 25 ODIs, 3 Test matches, and 7 T20Is, in which he claimed 43 wickets collectively.
Besides his international accolades, Chawla was a pivotal presence in the Indian Premier League (IPL), having represented Chennai Super Kings, Kings XI Punjab, and Kolkata Knight Riders. His time with KKR was especially memorable as he played a key role in their 2014 championship-winning campaign.
