US Silences Pakistani Reporter Over Modi Question, Stresses ‘Ceasefire, Not Claims’

A Pakistani journalist was swiftly shut down at a US State Department briefing after attempting to frame Prime Minister Narendra Modi as obstructing peace efforts between India and Pakistan, while praising Donald Trump as a Nobel-worthy peacemaker.

During the briefing, the journalist claimed that India rejected Trump’s supposed peace initiative that led to the ceasefire and questioned whether Modi’s attitude was a “disappointment” to the Biden administration.

Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott firmly avoided the bait, emphasizing only that the US welcomes the India-Pakistan ceasefire and encourages “direct communication” between the two nations.

“Our focus remains on the ceasefire… and we want to encourage direct communication. That is our focus,” Pigott said, sidestepping the reporter’s framing.

When the reporter claimed Trump deserved a Nobel Peace Prize for his alleged role in brokering peace, Pigott responded diplomatically:

“He’s a peacemaker, a dealmaker… he values peace,” the spokesperson said, without confirming any involvement in the ceasefire agreement.

The journalist escalated further, questioning whether Trump objected to India’s use of Israeli drones during Operation Sindoor, calling it a risk to Muslim-Jewish ties and Pakistan-Israel relations.

Pigott declined to comment on defense procurement and reiterated the US stance: “ceasefire and dialogue” are Washington’s priorities.

While Pakistan claims Trump orchestrated peace, India maintains that its strong military response forced Pakistan’s hand — with Islamabad’s DGMO requesting a truce following heavy losses.

Adding to the disinformation, Pakistani media outlets have raised alarm over India’s Israeli drone use — while Pakistan itself deployed a mix of Chinese PL-15 missiles, Turkish Songar drones, and J-10C fighter jets in the conflict.

This selective outrage underscores Pakistan’s ongoing attempt to paint itself as a peace-seeker while covertly escalating tensions and manipulating international narratives through propaganda and half-truths.
