Jajpur: A retired Village Level Worker has been sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment by the Special Court Cuttack for taking bribe.
The accused ashok Kumar Nayak was appointed as a VLW in Kankadapal Gram Panchayat under Sukinda Block in Jajpur district.
As per reports, the accused has demanded and accepted a bribe from a complainant for submitting verification report in his favour for allotment of house under “Mo Kudia” yojana. He has been convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of two years and fine of Rs.10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) / 7 of P.C. Act, 1988.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Ashok Kumar Nayak, following his conviction.
