Security forces neutralized two Maoists during an intense encounter in the Gangaloor area of Bijapur district, located in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region.
The operation was launched early Friday morning following credible intelligence reports about Maoist presence in the area.
A joint team comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and other security personnel initiated a search operation that escalated into heavy intermittent gunfire. Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Yadav confirmed the recovery of two bodies, a .303 rifle, additional weapons, and a large cache of explosives. Maoist propaganda materials and daily-use items were also seized from the site.
Authorities have withheld details about troop deployment and the exact location of the encounter for security reasons. The number of Maoists involved remains unconfirmed, and the operation is still ongoing. A detailed report is expected once the situation stabilizes.
This encounter underscores the continued efforts of Chhattisgarh’s security forces to dismantle Maoist networks in the insurgency-hit Bastar region.
