Two people lost their lives in a hit-and-run accident near Telibandha Chhak in Odisha’s Boudh district early Tuesday morning.
A car bearing registration number OD-02-X-3921 travelled from Boudh towards Sonepur when an unidentified vehicle rammed into it at high speed near Telibandha Chhak. The collision forced the car off the road and into a nearby agricultural field.
Local residents rushed to the crash site after hearing the impact. They rescued the two occupants from the severely damaged vehicle and shifted them to Boudh district headquarters hospital in an 108 ambulance. Doctors declared both victims dead after examination.
Police reached the accident site and seized the damaged car. Officers from Boudh and Jahnapank police stations began an investigation to trace the unidentified vehicle involved in the hit-and-run accident. They started checking CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the driver.
The identities of the deceased remain unknown as no documents were recovered from the spot. Police registered a case and continued efforts to track the fleeing vehicle.
The tragic mishap shocked local residents, who demanded strict action against reckless driving on National Highway 57. Authorities assured that every possible step will be taken to bring the culprit to justice.
