A tragic road accident occurred on Friday morning near Erian Chhak under Koida police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, when a high-speed truck rammed into a Maruti Omni van, killing two people on the spot and leaving four others critically injured.
According to reports, the victims were en route from Koida to a command plant when the truck, coming from the opposite direction, collided with their vehicle. The impact was so intense that the Omni van was completely mangled.
Emergency services rushed the injured to a local hospital, and due to the severity of their condition, they are expected to be shifted to Rourkela for advanced treatment.
Among the deceased is the driver of the Omni van, a resident of Barbil in Keonjhar district. The identity of the second deceased, reportedly from outside the state, is yet to be ascertained.
Local police reached the scene promptly, detained the truck driver, and initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident.
