Police arrested two accused in the sensational armed jewellery loot case at Sanbazar in Dhamnagar and produced them before the JMFC Court.
Officers also urged the court to deny bail until the final report is filed.
The arrested men have been identified as Kush Rao alias Anam (28) and Danveer Rao (25), both from Purvakot village under Korei police limits in Jajpur district. Police arrested them on May 24 at around 3:30 p.m. under Section 310(2) of the BNS Act and seized a black Pulsar bike and sharp weapons used in the crime.
Investigations revealed that local youth Rajesh Das of Nuapada village masterminded the robbery. He tracked the movements of jeweller Kasimuddin Saha, owner of “Kadir Jewellery” at Sanbazar, and planned the attack with Kush, Danveer, and two others — Om Pradhan and Antesh Pradhan.
On May 18, the gang followed Kasimuddin on two motorcycles, including a black Pulsar (BR-02-Q-4120) and an unregistered Apache. Around 10 p.m., they intercepted him near Bandhatia-Jhatiya Sahi road and attacked him with sharp weapons before looting gold and silver ornaments.
Police launched raids across multiple locations and arrested Kush and Danveer near the Dobal Counter based on credible intelligence. During interrogation, both confessed to the crime and named the three absconding associates.
Dharmnagar IIC Shubhrajeet Dash confirmed that efforts are underway to nab the remaining accused soon.
